Description
Judaea. Legio VI Ferrata. Countermarked in early 2nd century AD.
Struck on AE 24 mm of Antioch, time of Nero, 54-68 AD.
Obverse: Laureate head of Nero right. First countermark: LVIF within rectangular incuse.
Second countermark: standing figure(?) within rectangular incuse.
Reverse: Large S C within laurel wreath.
Good very fine. Rare.

Legio VI Ferrata was one of only a few select Roman legions who were stationed in Judaea during the Jewish Wars.
